Layers of Value: How AC Integrates Impact and Returns

Jul 23, 2025 ac mindset impact industry news

Can you actually have performance and regenerative impact at scale? Yes, you can!

After nine years of annual impact reporting, Agriculture Capital (AC) has shifted to a quarterly format to provide a more integrated perspective, combining regenerative progress with our financial reporting. The Q1 2025 Impact Report continues to evolve our decade-long commitment to proving that regenerative agriculture is possible, profitable, and powerful – particularly if it can improve both planetary outcomes and farm performance.

This quarterly installment of this year’s impact reporting focuses on our ambitious Zero Goals and our progress toward a more resilient food system.

Scale and Regenerative Management

The numbers tell a compelling story of growth without compromise. AC’s blueberry business produced 35 million pounds of fruit last year–to put that into perspective, if our blueberry business were a state, it would be the 7th largest producer (2024 NABC Crop Report)! Our Sumo Citrus® brand has grown from 700,000 cartons in 2014 to nearly 20 million in the 2024-2025 season—a 27x increase.  It is also the fastest-growing brand in the produce aisle according to Nielsen data (Nielsen Brand Ranking by Department 2024).

Across our portfolio in California, Oregon, and Australia, we’ve sequestered an estimated 200,000 metric tons of carbon since 2016. This represents approximately 3 metric tons of CO₂ per acre annually.

Progress on Four Zero Goals

Our Zero Goals framework—Zero Waste, Zero Carbon, Zero Toxics, and Zero Plastics by 2030—represents our north star for regenerative innovation. We’re already seeing transformative results:

  • Three facilities have achieved Zero Waste certification, with our Silver Mountain Packing facility diverting 99% of waste from landfills
  • 100% of our farms track soil organic carbon, using verified baselines from which to track  improvement
  • We were the first blueberry grower to achieve Bee Better Certified status, with a 6x increase in pollinator species abundance in Oregon
  • Synthetic nitrogen use has dropped 27% on our California citrus farms

Integrated Reporting Approach

This new reporting format is a first step towards demonstrating regeneration as a systems-level solution. Our vertically integrated model gives us unprecedented ability to manage the full value chain, allowing us to implement regenerative practices at every touchpoint. By proving that healthy soils, thriving ecosystems, and robust returns go hand in hand, we’re writing the playbook for agriculture’s regenerative future.

Looking ahead, each report will dive deep into specific themes: Q2 will showcase key performance metric outcomes, Q3 will explain our alignment with impact frameworks, and Q4 will feature compelling case studies from our operations.
