Elan is an Associate at Agriculture Capital. As a member of the firm’s sustainable food and agriculture team, Elan focuses on financial and strategic analysis for agricultural properties and opportunities in the Pacific Northwest.
Elan brings to Agriculture Capital a unique blend of financial analysis and hands-on farming experience. Elan began his career as an Investment Banking Analyst at Credit Suisse in New York, where he advised on M&A and capital markets transactions for global financial firms. Elan then took time off from the finance world to explore his passion for sustainability and the environment, hiking over 2,000 miles, serving as a Park Ranger and working on several organic farms around the world. These experiences have helped shape Elan’s view on sustainability, which continues to evolve.
Elan believes that sustainability and profit are not mutually exclusive, but rather complementary forces that promote efficient use of resources on a large scale. Employing agricultural methods that consume minimal inputs, support healthy ecosystems and create long-term opportunities for farmers makes sense economically, environmentally and ethically.
Originally from Illinois, Elan earned a B.S. in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University. During his studies, Elan also wrote business news stories as a reporter for CNBC.
